Editorial cartoon published in The New York Sun; 021105. This cartoon and many like it appeared on the op-ed page of The New York Sun, a newspaper that’s published in the city where I live. By an informal agreement with the paper, I provided them with two cartoons per week; in late 2006 I left the paper to pursue other interests. The Sun was set up to provide an alternative to the oppressive voice of the New York Times. The Sun provides a full array of the day’s news, with special attention to the political and cultural affairs of New York City. Circulation is about 100,000. Newsstand price is $.50. The editor of the paper was directly involved in the creation of my cartoons. Some artists resent the close involvement of the client, but I usually welcome it, and I did in this case.
