Claremont Review of Books is a small-circulation quarterly published by the Claremont Institute, a think tank located in California. I am the designer and staff artist for the magzine. This illustration accompanied a review of a biography of the late athlete, Roberto Clemente.The print size of the image is quite small, about 2.5 inches in height. The enlarged image demonstrates the nature of the technique that I've used for the past few years. I call it Painting with Patterns. (See section 2 of this site.)
